NCAA Tournament
Last week was such a wonderful week for college basketball. . . There were non stop games on TV for 4 straight days. It's NCAA Tournament time baby! A lot of teams lost and screwed my bracket all up, but that's okay because upsets are ALWAYS awesome (of course unless it's Duke). It was so great to see some of the top seeds in the tournament lose because of their arrogance.
Highlights of NCAA Tournament through 2 rounds:
1. Bucknell over Kansas -- When you get beat by a team with jerseys that look like Youth Rec. league jerseys you know you've screwed up. Just kidding; basketball is not a fashion show, it's a skill show and Kansas wasn't ready when the curtains opened.
2. Vermont over Syracuse -- And Andy Katz (who thinks he's a genius) is wrong yet again. I knew there was no way Syracuse could go to the Final Four on the backs of just 2 players: McNamara and Hakim Warick. Yet Andy Katz predicted Syracuse to be in St. Louis dancing as one of the Final Four teams. . . what a loser
3. University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee over Alabama -- Not really an upset in my book after seeing how great the UWM team was compared to Alabama. Alabama needs to stick to football because they certainly didn't own up to their seeding.
4. West Virgina over Wake Forest -- Wake Forest deserves this loss because of one reason: Chris Paul and his bad attitude. I take that back, it's because of two reasons:
First, Chris Paul might be an awesome PG, but his pompous attitude discredits him as a representative for sportsmanship. Chris Paul is also a dirty player, giving out cheap shots in scrambles for loose balls. He delivered a punch to the groin of Julius Hodge of NC State during the ACC tournament, not to mention cheap shots to Daniel Ewing in both matchups against Duke. His negativity overrules his skills.
Second, the coach Skip Prossor (sp) does nothing to punish such behavior. He, like Chris Paul, just gives the refs the shrug of the shoulders as if nothing happened. I'm sorry Skip, but you suck as a disciplinary figure and because of that your team isn't dancing.
Chris Paul (we like to call him bert or ernie without the hair cuz of his monstrously thick eyebrows) is the epitome of a great basketball player with a poor attitude. His God-given gift is being wasted because of his own immaturity.
West Virginia player Gansey deserves NCAA Tournament MVP honors through the first 2 rounds. Coach Beilien should be considered for Coach of the Year awards, bringing West Virginia into the Sweet 16 after his team was considered "on the bubble" and about to fall off. After winning their conference tournament things have just blown up and they're on fire.
My initial Final Four: Duke, UNC, Oklahoma State, Wake Forest
--->Wake is out
My NCAA Championship game: UNC vs. Oklahoma State
My ideal NCAA Championship game: Louisville vs. Duke (Pitino vs. Kryzezewski) (Garcia vs. JJ)
I can't wait to see what the end result will be in the 2005 NCAA Tournament.
GO DUKE!!!
